Metropolitan Ethics. Models of Action in Relation to Cities as Complex Systems GAČR 401/07/P068
During last 200 years the city became perhaps a most characteristic element of our world that concerns in different way almost everyone on the Earth. This project tries to conceive the city as a complex system that can´t be controlled by single and simple rules. The selected transdisciplinary approach of the research corresponds to the character of this topic. It combines a theoretical (especially philosohpy, sociology) and practical (urbanism, architecture) perspective in order to establish a new non-normative ethics dealing with a question of action in contemporary metropolis. A concrete research object represents a relation of specific urban projects in the Czech Republic and similar European countries to the general concepts, strategies or models of action, which are-explicite or implicite-included in them.
