Cyril Říha studied philosophy at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University. In addition to CTS, he is an associate professor at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. He is a member of a number of expert or evaluation committees, including the Artistic and Scientific Council of the Faculty of Arts and Architecture of the Technical University of Liberec, the Expert Evaluation Committee of the TAČR SIGMA programme and the Council of the Dagmar and Václav Havel Foundation VIZE 97 Award project.
His expertise focuses on standardisation in 20th century architecture and urbanism (he co-edited the book "Husák's 3+1. Housing Culture of the 1970s" /in Czech/, and participated in the exhibition "2x100 mil. m2" at the 14th International Architecture Biennale in Venice). He also works on macroscopic analogies between biological and urban systems, on spontaneous, unplanned processes in contemporary cities (including co-authoring a book on terrain vague), and on the issue of construction activities in protected landscape areas (TAČR ÉTA project).
He has been coordinating the Thursday seminars at CTS for a long time.
