International Philosophical Conference
Jan Patocka's Archive organizes an international philosophical conference focused on the phenomenological account of subjectivity and its function in the structure of the appearing.
The primary aim of the conference is to explore the nature of subjectivity as such and more specifically the contribution of phenomenology as a first-person methodology investigating the subjective dimension of human experience.
The second aim is to re-assess critically the enduring relevance of Husserlian approach to subjectivity, with regard to Heidegger's, Merleau-Ponty's and Patocka's criticism of Husserl's cartesianism and subjectivism.
Finally, we would like to provide space for an assessment of Patocka's project of the asubjective phenomenology and the question to what extent the field of appearance is in itself subjective or asubjective. The conference language is English, French and German. Paper topics
The conference papers are accepted under three broad topics:
Critical engagement with historical and contemporary phenomenological approaches to subjectivity Phenomenological accounts of subjectivity in its relation to time-consciousness, self-consciousness, embodiment and intersubjectivity.
Consideration of whether and how Patocka's project of asubjective phenomenology can give a proper account of the structure of appearance.
Paper presentations will have a maximum duration of 30 minutes. Paper proposal
The submission deadline for paper proposals is Monday, April 15th 2013. The proposals should be sent to the following e-mail address: ondrej.svec@ff.cuni.cz. The proposals will include a title and an abstract, with a maximum extension of 30 lines or 2,500 character (without spaces). Registration fee
Registration fee for speakers accepted through an anonymous review process is 50 EUR. The conference registration fee includes: organization costs, morning and afternoon coffee breaks, lunches, dinners and conference banquet. The fee should be paid upon arrival of the participant.
