Care for the soul. A philosophical translation project

Lecturers: Saverio Matrangolo ; Brooke Penna
The present debate about Europe is intricate as it involves a crisis of the concept itself. In this sense, Jan Patočka’s perspective could be considered an unfashionable attempt to understand the problems that challenge every man who considers himself European. Nevertheless, since the origin of philosophy, Europe has been a part of the human condition, as well as representative of that spiritual upheaval overtaking the world decay which Patočka himself names ‘care for the soul’. This concept inspired our translation project in which some of the fundamental themes Patočka presented, mostly in his later work, are questioned from a linguistic and a philosophical point of view.
