Church buildings in crisis

The number of redundant church buildings in growing, with most of these being valuable historic structures. In Britain this problem was faced-up to in the 1970s and a number of measures put in place by the government to see that those churches woth preserving were saved, and that new uses were found also. Stephen Weeks - an English conservationist living and working in Prague - contrasts the treatment of church buildings in Britain and the Czech Republic and raises many fundamental questions about their future.
