The project focuses on the changes of Czech architecture during the so-called long
transformation of society and politics from 1989 to the accession to the European Union in
2004. We consider the interpretation of the transformation in the field of architecture to be
extremely topical - solutions to current challenges at that time, the building of a new discourse
and the conditions of architectural practice determine the present.
The research will examine and critically interpret two main lines: firstly, the transformation of architectural work itself, the development of its discourse and the shaping of contemporary criteria of "good architecture".
The second area of research is the complex transformation of the conditions in which
architecture has been thought, designed and built - the changing role and position of architects
and the field itself, the diverse motivations and interrelationships of the various actors in the
field of architecture and construction.
