Mgr.et Mgr. Jan Géryk, Ph.D.

He graduated from the Faculty of Law (Law) and the Faculty of Social Sciences (Bc. Political Science, Mgr. American Studies) at Charles University. He obtained his doctoral degree from the Faculty of Law at Charles University in the field of Theory, Philosophy, and Sociology of Law. He primarily focuses on political and social theory, especially the impacts of contemporary challenges (social acceleration, globalization, climate change) on political processes and modes of governance. Additionally, he is interested in the strategies of social movements and intellectual history, particularly in the second half of the 20th century.
He is the author of the monograph "Society of Anxiety: How Politics, Time, and Mental Health are Related" and co-editor of the book "Traces of the Velvet Revolution: Where the Ninety-Eighth Resides." He occasionally contributes essays to Salon Práva and Host magazine.
In addition to his work at the Center for Theoretical Study (CTS), he is affiliated with the Institute of State and Law of the Czech Academy of Sciences and also works as a lawyer at the non-profit organization R-Mosty. In his free time, he enjoys amateur theater and stand-up comedy.
