K.T. studies the variety of ways infinity and continuum are approached in mathematics as well as the philosophical and theological aspects of the problem. Her research has been based on alternative set theory developed by Petr Vopěnka. Its approach to infinity differs substantially from the one in classical set theory. The alternative approach makes use of the phenomenological notion of a horizon which is captured in mathematics by semisets. K.T. develops this approach further, and compares it with the works of some of the great contributors to the theory of infinity, notably Zeno, Georg Cantor, and Bernard Bolzano.
K.T. is married to Jan Trlifaj. She has five children: Lucie (*1984), Justina (*1985), Magdalena (*1989), Šimon (*1991), and Daniel (*2001).
