Differences between men and women continue to fascinate.
Neuroscientists are searching for an underlying biological basis that entail
differences at the brain anatomical level but also at the cognitive,
psychological level. This talk will focus on disorders of sex development
and how changes in sex hormones can inform on brain anatomical differences
between men and women and their relation to cognitive-emotional processing.
Adopting a developmental perspective, the talk will begin considering
genetic disorders of sex development in children and teenagers and end with
data from adults choosing to adopt a new sex by virtue of sex reassignment
surgery, transgender persons.
