Kristina Alda is an anthropologist who studies postindustrial landscapes and the impact of socialist urbanism on the production of public space.
She has a degree in social anthropology (University of King’s College, Canada) and journalism (New York University), and has worked as a reporter and editor for English-language publications in Prague, writing primarily about urban development and architecture. Her interest in the transformation of post-socialist cities led her back to anthropology, and she completed a Ph.D. at the University of Toronto in 2023. Her current postdoctoral research explores anthropogenic nature and politics of renewal in the Czech Republic’s Krušné hory.
